■ With fuel prices soaring,
road safety charity IAM RoadSmart has done some interesting research into how willing drivers are to tap up their passengers for a contribution to the cost of the fuel that’s being used on their journey.
It found that 82% of drivers between the ages of 18 and 24 think it’s fine to ask for a contribution, whereas only 58% of the over-65s would ask passengers to put their hands in their pockets.
In Wales, 86% of all drivers said that they’d ask passengers to chip in.
