STAR MAN’S EXIT IS CONFIRMED

- MARK CARRUTHERS

Blyth Spartans have officially confirmed the departure of club legend Robbie Dale as well as Dan Maguire and Sean Reid.

The news Dale was to end his 17-year association with the Croft Park club was revealed last week and made official in a club release.

Maguire and Reid returned to Spartans last summer as underwhelming stints with National League North rivals Darlington and have struggled to make an impact on their return to Northumberland.

Manager Terry Mitchell is preparing for an overhaul of his squad as he prepares for his first full season in charge. Goalkeeper Alex

Curran, defender Karl Byrne, striker Sado Djalo and young duo Cameron Painter and Jamie Clark are also set to leave.

But it is the news long-serving winger Dale will leave that will make the biggest impact as the 37-yearold became synonymous with Spartans throughout his career.

After moving to Croft Park in 2005, Dale went on to score 220 goals in a club record 721 appearances.

On-loan Angelo Cappello and Patrick Almond will also leave Spartans and return to Sheffield United and Sunderland respectively.
