FINAL TOUCHES TO HALL REVAMP

-

At Seaton Delaval Hall, pictured above, in Northumberland, a £7.5 million project to conserve the house and tell the story of its most flamboyant owners is reaching its final act. In Georgian times, Seaton Delaval Hall was known as a place of theatrics, mischief, trickery and surprise. Experts have been working behind the scenes to make sure this much-loved place is protected and brought back to life.

Following major conservation work to the hall and estate, and the creation of new spaces including a café and play area, the final act – the West Wing – will reopen its doors this month.

There are many rooms to explore as well as a Baroque travelling theatre in the old kitchen and items to discover in the collection stores that once belonged to the family. Visitors can also take part in ‘The Game of Life’, following the lives of Seaton Delaval’s larger-than-life Georgian characters around the giant board game... but not all will survive!
