-

Play areas are a great place to burn off energy on a family day out. Here are some of our favourites:

Try out the slide at Beningbrough Hall. Scale the steps or climb the wall to get to the top before whizzing back down.

BEST FOR... imaginative play Climb aboard and pretend you’re driving the giant play train at Wallington, or hop onto the station and be the station master.

BEST FOR… aerial adrenaline Have a go on the zip wire through the woodland at Nostell - it’s a whopping 30 metres long!

BEST FOR... testing balance Take on the low ropes challenge at Gibside and put your balance and strength to the test as you move from one tree to another.

BEST FOR... scaling new heights Stop by the play area at Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal to discover tall towers to climb and a mini-abbey to scramble over.

BEST FOR... budding chefs Head to the mud pie kitchen in the discovery garden at East Riddlesden Hall to whip up your own marvellously muddy masterpiece.
