Coutinho completes Villa switch

ASTON Villa have completed the signing of Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho.

The midfielder has signed a four-year deal at Villa Park after originally joining the Premier League club on loan.

There had been speculation suggesting Newcastle could hijack the deal this summer, but Aston Villa reportedly had first refusal.

Steven Gerrard’s side have chosen to take up the option and Coutinho will play in the Premier League once more next season.

The 29-year-old has scored four goals and contributed three assists so far this season and has signed for the Villains for an undisclosed fee.
