Casey out of US PGA event

-

PAUL Casey has withdrawn from the US PGA Championship due to an ongoing back injury.

The 44-year-old has not competed since the injury forced him out of the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play in March after completing just two holes of his opening match.

Casey finished runner-up to Collin Morikawa in the 2020 US PGA at Harding Park and was also joint fourth behind Phil Mickelson at Kiawah Island last year.

His place in the field at Southern Hills will be taken by Scotland’s Russell Knox.

The year’s second major championship gets under way in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Thursday this week.
