Businesses planning to recruit staff

EMPLOYERS plan to recruit staff in the coming months but are still struggling to fill job vacancies, according to a new report.

Recruiters ManpowerGroup said its research suggested hiring plans had reached record levels.

Firms in the banking, finance, insurance and property sectors have the strongest hiring intentions, a survey of more than 2,000 employers suggested.

Chris Gray, UK director of ManpowerGroup, said: “These record hiring plans demonstrate the continuation of an employment trend which sees businesses keeping their feet firmly on the gas, despite the familiar challenges with the UK labour market.

“Despite a shrinking workforce and with a large proportion of inactive workers, employers are still keen to recruit fresh talent to help them deliver their services.”
