BURNMOOR inflicted a 54-run defeat on Hetton Lyons in the Dukes North East Premier League Premier Division.

Hosts the Moor batted first, Ross Greenwell with 48 and Marcus Brown with 56 helping them to 200-7 declared and Josh Coughlin adding 34 not out late on.

The Lyons made a stuttering start before Ben McKinney settled their nerves with 51.

However, Graeme Bridge with 4-30 and Craig Stephenson (3-19) turned the match and the Wearsiders were all out for 146.

Whitburn made 226 all out at home to champions South North.

Opener Vishal Tripathi struck a wonderful 121 from 147 balls, which included 14 fours and three sixes, but Oliver McGee kept the South Tynesiders in check with 5-36.

Simon Birtwisle then posted an excellent 114 not out and Chris Hewison 107 not out to steer their side to victory on 227-2.

Eppleton were asked to bat first at Benwell Hill and amassed 194-9. In reply, the Hill’s Adam Heather hit 49 and Luke Doneathy 37 to guide them to 197-6.

Newcastle were asked to bat first by visitors Burnopfiel­d and reached 250-9. Opener Bobby Green made 65, while Alasdair Appleby claimed 4-38.

John Oswell then smashed an excellent 103 from 77 balls, which included 10 fours and seven sixes, and Mitchell Killeen added 45 as the visitors batted out for the draw on 219-6.

Chester-le-Street amassed 266-5 declared at Sunderland, thanks to Andrew Smith’s brilliant 180 from 155 balls which included 14 fours and 12 sixes.

George Harrison then added 50 as they put on 186 runs for the third wicket.

The Ashbrooke outfit then made a good start in response, openers Greg Applegarth (53) and Dan Shurben (105 no) putting on 81 for the first wicket.

However, Sebastian Hughes-Pinan took 4-31 to put the brakes pn and they ended on 223-5.

Tynemouth racked up 244-4 at home to Felling, opener Ben Debnam adding 74, Matthew Brown 69 and Esam Rahman 75 not out. Half-centuries from Edward Hurst and Sebastian Ellison 57 guided Felling to 215-6.

PONTELAND made 181-9 at home to Morpeth in the Northumber­land and Tyneside League as Intisaar Fazal (64) and Yuvraj Chauhan (45 not out) put on valuable runs, while Michael Craigs claimed 4-30.

In reply, Adam Lawn contribute­d 36, Alex Senior 36 not out and Matthew Senior 40 as Morpeth chased their target down, finishing on 184-6.

Stocksfiel­d were skittled for just 63 at home to Consett. Waqarullah Ishaq took an impressive 5-10. Consett coasted to 67-2 and an eight-wicket win.

IN THE Readers Durham and North East League, Marsden were all out for 139 at unbeaten Brandon.

Owen Peterson resisted with 66 not out but the damage was done by Callum Appleby as he took 5-20 and Ryan Green 4-28.

The leaders made a positive start in response, Matthew Brown scoring 53 not out and Chris Peareth 42 to complete their 11th win on the trot.

Esh Winning scored 201 all out at home to Seaham Harbour, John Carmedy making 51 and Karl Turner

30. Jonathan Hodgson then bashed 65 not out from 40 balls, while Paris Dogra claimed 3-29.

Seaham then started well as Steven Gale made 44 and Dogra 76 not out, and eventually ran out winners on 203-5.

Littletown racked up a massive 262-9 at home to Hylton, opener Aidan Chapplow posting 60 and Jhari Clarke 51. The visitors were never in it as they totalled a gallant 213 all out in reply.
