PITCHING IN NORTHERN PREM

- MARK CARRUTHERS

HEBBURN Town manager Daniel Moore has warned his side they have ‘done nothing yet’ as they look to continue their unlikely push for the East Division title.

Tuesday’s 3-1 win at Carlton Town moved the Hornets to within eight points of leaders Stockton Town and Moore’s men still hold three games in hand over their former Northern League rivals.

However, speaking ahead of today’s visit to Grimsby Borough, Moore urged his squad to focus on what’s immediately ahead of them, rather than basking in the positivity of a run of just one defeat in ten games.

He told the club website: “We’ve done nothing, we’ve done nothing yet.

“I don’t even look at the games in front, I couldn’t tell you who we are playing from one week to the next.

“Grimsby is another long trip and they’re in decent form. They are a decent outfit, young, energetic, play the right way and they’ll be a handful.

“But we have to just take one game at a time, nothing is done, we’ve not won anything, we’ve not done anything.”

Elsewhere, leaders Stockton will hope to maintain their promotion push with a win at Winterton Rangers, and Dunston UTS face a quick-fire reunion at Sheffield after the two sides shared the points with a thrilling 3-3 draw in midweek.

Newton Aycliffe can take a big step towards a play-off place with a home win against Carlton Town and Consett will aim for a first win in five games when they entertain Liversedge.

Ashington have confirmed their Woodhorn Lane home has officially met the requirements to host step four games after a number of recent improvements.

The Colliers praised the ‘unwavering support’ of their local community and expressed their ‘deepest gratitude’ to everyone that stood by them throughout the process.

Ian Skinner’s side will be back on home soil today when Grantham Town make the long trip to Woodhorn Lane.

Morpeth Town are aiming to avoid a fifth consecutive defeat when they host Premier Division rivals Worksop Town at Craik Park.

The Highwaymen have faced four sides looking to secure promotion into the National League North over the past four weeks and that will continue with a game against a Tigers side sitting just outside of the play-off spots.
