Howe relentless and it is tougher than the Three Lions camp

NEWCASTLE United star Anthony Gordon says that the culture Eddie Howe has created at Benton is “harder” than the England camp.

Gordon made his England debut last month against Bra- zil and is hoping to be on the plane for Germany this summer.

The former Everton man has revealed how working with Howe, himself deemed a future Three Lions boss, was the perfect preparation for international football.

Gordon, speaking to the Overlap, said: “The lads were class when I first arrived at Newcastle and they helped me settle quickly, but Eddie Howe is relentless, so the first part is harder because he’s putting that much pressure on you to succeed and get you to where you need to be - his demands are massive.

“Every session, if you’re daydreaming for one second, he’s somehow managed to see it and he’s screaming your name. Eddie’s culture is much harder than what it was like when I first went to the England camp, but it’s got me to where I am now which is a good thing.”

Gordon has also spoken about his international chances and believes he can provide plenty of value for Southgate if he gets the nod this summer. He said: “I think versatility in a tournament is massive. The likes of Phil Foden, Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish can play across the front line and in midfield, but I feel that I’ve done it a lot this season especially in big games, and I think that matters.

“Playing as a centre forward or as a right-winger is out of position for me because the left is probably my main position. I’ve played number 10 at times, and I’ve proven in big games that no matter where I play, I can still perform, and having that trust from the manager and the players around me, which I think is the most important thing.”
