Ruth Jones, adored star of BBC’s Gavin & Stacey and six sea­sons of Stella, is in her first play in years. Here she is, singing briefly, in a tale of strained heart­strings in a lo­cal choir.

The show is writ­ten by ac­tor Wil­liam Gam­i­nara, best known for play­ing Leo Dal­ton in Silent Wit­ness and dishy Dr Richard Locke in The Archers.

60, the choir­mas­ter; Di­ane (Mary Stock­ley), his sec­ond wife, who se­cretly craves a baby; ban­ter­ing Ben (Philip McGin­ley, a failed pro­fes­sional ten­nis player; and Ben’s dis­ap­pointed wife Con­nie (Sarah Earn­shaw), a for­mer ac­tor-model who was once in a scene with Pierce Bros­nan in a James Bond film. Bruno (Ste­fan Adeg­bola) is the sin­gle­ton his­tory teacher.
