Mellon weds again...with his ex as the VIP guest

-

BANKING heir Matthew Mellon married his fiancee Nicole Hanley last night in a surprise ceremony on Harbour Island in the Bahamas, I can exclusively reveal.

The couple, below, tied the knot in a romantic ceremony watched by close family and friends including Matthew’s ex-wife, Jimmy Choo boss Tamara Mellon, and their seven-year-old daughter Minty, who acted as a bridesmaid.

The impromptu ceremony took place at the home of Matthew’s close friend fashion designer Diane Von Furstenberg, with her son Alex as best man and the happy bride wearing a traditional white wedding dress from India Hicks’s boutique.

Although it was a low-key event, there were a handful of high-profile guests, including members of the powerful Getty family and Matthew’s halfbrother Nicholas Roosevelt Bright, grandson of former American President Teddy Roosevelt.

According to friends, Matthew was determined that his former wife should be at the ceremony. Said one: ‘Matthew and Nicole originally planned to get married next month but in the end it was all very lastminute and off-the-cuff.

‘They were all holidaying at Diane’s house and decided to get married this Easter weekend instead, when everybody was there. It was really important for Matthew that Tamara and Minty were there.

‘Although they have had their ups and downs, they have maintained a close friendship and Matthew dotes on Minty.’

Matthew, 43, proposed to 32-year-old Nicole on a romantic boat trip while they were on holiday on Fishers Island in New York State in August 2008.

Since then, the couple have set up their own fashion label, Hanley-Mellon...and become inseparable.

Says the friend: ‘Matthew believes he has found his soul mate in Nicole and they can’t wait to start a family together.’ JADE JAGGER is to compete in the 3,000-mile Gumball Rally – in a van equipped with a DJ booth. Sir Mick Jagger’s 38-year-old daughter will race from London to New York with husband Dan Williams. She has advertised on her Facebook page for a police riot van, but has yet to receive any offers. ‘We’ll be customising a van with a mobile Jezebel disco,’ Ibiza DJ Jade tells me. ‘As Dan is DJing every night during the rally, our friend Bushell will drive, but we’re still

looking for the perfect van. Donations are welcome!’
