The secret mole in James’s new role

JAMES PURNELL, who quit the Cabinet in a failed attempt to bring down Gordon Brown, has landed a six-figure salary working for The Times newspaper.

But he is being urged by colleagues on the paper to be careful what he says when executives probe him for Labour secrets. ‘One is a mole who reports directly to Cameron and Osborne,’ said a source. ‘We’ve told James to watch out.’ DAVID MILIBAND is making good use of the Foreign Secretary’s official country residence, magnificent Chevening in Kent. No stuffy lunch parties for diplomats for him. He and violinist wife Louise plan to stage an Easter Egg hunt in the 3,500-acre grounds for sons Jacob and Isaac. Mind they don’t get lost. POSH Tristram Hunt, the Labour candidate for Stoke, married wife Juliet at Westminster Abbey thanks to his father, Lord Hunt. ‘As a Companion of the Bath, my sons or daughters can marry in the Abbey. I didn’t have to pull any strings,’ said Lord Hunt. Nobody from Stoke was there.
