Sex charge at binge festival
A BRITISH student has been charged with sexually abusing a woman at a controversial festival in Spain infamous for its drinking.
The alleged victim, also a British student, initially claimed that she had been raped during the so-called Saloufest. But the charge was reduced to ‘sexual abuse’, a Spanish offence, after it became clear that both parties had been drinking heavily.
A police officer said: ‘A lot of alcohol was involved, typical of the kind of cases we get among young tourists.’
The male has been allowed to return to the UK, but the pair have to return to Tarragona for a trial.
