Tasty suites from Hotel Chocolat

LUXURY confection­ery chain Hotel Chocolat is celebratin­g Easter with the imminent launch of its first boutique hotel.

The group will begin a marketing blitz for the 14-suite resort on the Caribbean island of St Lucia in the coming weeks.

It will be set in Hotel Chocolat’s cocoa plantation and give sweet-toothed guests the chance to wander through the groves and watch harvests.

Co-founder and chief executive Angus Thirlwell said he wanted to give chocolate lovers the equivalent experience as wine buffs had visiting a vineyard.

Several more hotels are expected to follow if the St Lucia project, which opens to guests in November, is a success. ‘We think this is a great way to separate us as people who really care about chocolate from the other companies who don’t,’ he said.

The news comes as the group, which has more than 40 shops around Britain, is on track to increase sales by 18 per cent to £52 million this year.
