Gloucester at sharp end

- By Lee Nolan

GLOUCESTER improved their chances of reaching the Premiership play-offs with victory over Saracens at Kingsholm.

Glen Jackson handed Saracens an early advantage with a penalty from 40 metres, before two penalties from Freddie Burns redressed the balance.

Brad Barritt put the finishing touch to a 12-man move, then Charlie Sharples touched down for Gloucester with Burns converting.

Jackson and Burns swapped penalties before half-time and Sharples scored his second try shortly after the break. Burns converted and added a fourth penalty.

But tries from Saracens’ Chris Wyles and Alex Goode ensured a nervous finish.
