ANDERSON’S SIX OF THE BEST
JIMMY ANDERSON tore through the West Indies middle order in yesterday’s opening session, taking four wickets, performing a brilliant run-out and taking two catches.
1 10.11am. Brathwaite c Root b Anderson 116 (WI 224-3)
Anderson works wonders with the new ball, catching Brathwaite out with a short delivery that bounces up at neckheight and the he opener can only fend it straight to Root at gully.
2 10.33am. Chanderpaul c Cook b Anderson 7 (WI 238-4)
Tempts Chanderpaul with an away-swinging ball that is edged to Bell at second slip. He parries it on to Cook, who makes a fabulous catch (above) to dismiss the 40-year-old.
3 10.44am. Samuels c Buttler b Anderson 37 (WI 239-5)
Anderson continues to demolish West Indies, Samuels tickling an outswinger straight to Buttler. Ben Stokes, mocked by Samuels (right) when he was out on Thursday, just claps.
4 11.09am. Blackwood c Anderson b Jordan 10 (WI 257-6)
Absurd decision from Blackwood to fire a delivery from Jordan straight to Anderson at mid-off — and there’s no way the Burnley man is dropping that.
5 11.19am. Holder run out 2 (WI 260-7)
Is there anything Anderson can’t do? Ballance spills a Ramdin drive at cover but there is Anderson, running behind to pick up and score a direct hit on the non-striker’s stump.
6 11.53am. Roach c Anderson b Moeen 10 (WI 282-8)
Roach lifts Moeen to England’s man of the moment at mid-on for a straightforward catch, to give Anderson a hand in the visitors’ first six wickets of the day in Grenada.
