Now two students accuse Oxford gay rights campaigner of ‘rape’

- By Sanchez Manning

A LEFT-WING Oxford student activist who sparked a storm by publicly admitting she had sexually assaulted two students was last night sensationally accused of ‘rape’ in an anonymous blog post which claimed to have been written by her victims.

Annie Teriba, 20, who resigned as Oxford University Students Association’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transsexual women’s representative after publishing her mea culpa online last week, had tried to downplay the assaults, according to her nameless accusers. In the most recent incident, the Wadham College history and politics undergraduate had confessed to a sexual liaison with another woman in May at a National Union of Students conference, which the victim had subsequently complained had not been consensual.

She also admitted an incident in her first year ‘where I had touched somebody in a sexual manner without their consent’. But yesterday, the apparent victims of the two incidents dramatically issued a statement of their own, accusing Ms Teriba of far more serious crimes.

‘Let’s be clear: Annie Teriba is a rapist,’ they declared on blogging platform Tumblr. They said the only reason they had reluctantly agreed with Ms Teriba to omit the word rape from her initial statement was that they did not want to involve the police.

They added: ‘The survivor… would like it to be known that Annie Teriba committed two counts of rape in the most recent incident her statement refers to.’

The students claimed they had confronted Ms Teriba and urged her to make her apology, as well as stepping down from her student posts.

But they claimed she had been ‘narcissistic, obstructive and harmful’ through the process of drafting a statement about her actions. They wrote: ‘It took approximately three weeks from request to publish for the statement to be finally released, which shows Annie has been hell-bent on dragging out this ordeal for us.’

Oxford University declined to comment. Ms Teriba could not be reached for comment.
