Tycoon Alex has a hold on Cressie

-

FASHIONABLE society has been gripped by the mystery of the dashing young man carousing – and getting quite affectionate – with Prince Harry’s old flame Cressida Bonas at a gala dinner earlier this month. But now I can reveal the lucky chap in the picture, right, is entrepreneur Alex Short. He is the co-founder of Old St Labs, a company focused on web-based start-ups. And Cressida should be flattered by his flirtatious attentions because one of Alex’s rules in life is: ‘Surround yourself with people who are so good they intimidate you.’ Well, he’s certainly done that!

Meanwhile, my recent joke that Cressida looks every inch the housewife (when I revealed a picture of her posing for Jalouse magazine wearing rubber gloves) turns out to have been prophetic because she now tells me that she has a new hobby – knitting. ‘I am taking it up so I can do it on the Tube,’ she said when we caught up at the US Ambassador’s residence, Winfield House, for the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences VIP reception. ‘It’s better than sitting there looking at your phone.’

It also might also help Cressida, 26, take her mind off being ‘super nervous’ – as she put it – about heading to Hollywood to appear in the thriller The Bye Bye Man.
