Four couples, one murder in the TV whodunit gripping Britain

- By Chris Hastings

IT’S THE most gripping whodunit since Broadchurch.

Unforgotten’s five million viewers are on tenterhooks as DCI Cassie Stuart and DS Sunny Khan try to solve the murder of a teenager, whose body is discovered 39 years after he was bludgeoned to death.

There appear to be four prime suspects, all of whom have spent the intervening decades covering up their links to the victim. They may be respectable now but they all had very different lives back in 1976.

Each new episode of the six-part ITV series brings fresh revelations about their past and their relationship with the victim, James.

But fans of the show, which reaches its midway point at 9pm on Thursday, are advised to keep an eye on the other halves. Writer Chris Lang said they are as pivotal to the action as the four key suspects.

Here The Mail on Sunday presents a guide to the names in the frame, giving each a ‘guilt rating’...
