Rodgers is top coach
NOW that Brendan Rodgers has left Liverpool, I’ve heard people suggest anyone could have managed a side with Luis Suarez in it to within a whisker of the Premier League title. I think that’s very unfair. Though he had a world-class player at the top of his game, a season like that doesn’t just happen. The coach is responsible for setting the tone and Brendan ensured that their style was as exciting and intense as it was. While Liverpool’s pressing was impressive yesterday at Tottenham, let’s not forget that Liverpool sides at their best under Rodgers played in a very similar way. Even last season, which was disappointing by comparison, he showed his shrewdness in using a back three to rescue the campaign. Brendan is one of the most interesting and intelligent British coaches and I would expect to see him back very soon.
