Robinson produces rare goal

-

SURPRISE package Birmingham boosted their prospects with a commanding win over struggling QPR.

And the victory was a milestone for veteran Paul Robinson, who scored his first league goal for the club in 115 appearances. His only other goal came in an FA Cup tie against Bristol Rovers last year.

Robinson’s goal cancelled out Matt Phillips’ opener for QPR, and Paul Caddis sealed the points from the penalty spot.

QPR’s defeat came after it emerged that former manager Neil Warnock has returned to the club in an advisory role.

The 66-year-old, who was in charge between March 2010 and January 2012 and guided Rangers to promotion to the Premier League, will advise manager Chris Ramsey and work under director of football Les Ferdinand.

Warnock said: ‘It’s an honour to be back here as part of Chris’ managerial team and at this stage of my career, it’s a perfect role for me to come into.

‘Full-time management doesn’t interest me any more, but if I can help Chris and QPR by acting as a sounding board, then that’s great.’
