Hernandez hits the heights

-

HULL manager Steve Bruce was delighted his gamble to play Abel Hernandez paid off.

The striker only arrived back in the country late on Thursday after he scored for Uruguay in their World Cup qualifier in Bolivia.

Hernandez showed no ill-effects of his globe-trotting, and secured a point when he cancelled out Fernando Forestieri’s opener for Sheffield Wednesday.

It was his fifth goal of the season, and Bruce said: ‘He has been halfway around the world and played in Bolivia, which is one of the highest altitudes on earth.

‘The big thing was coming back from scoring for Uruguay, who have Suarez and Cavani, so he’s in decent company.

‘He’s had a good week, and long may that continue, because everyone needs a goalscorer. He is doing well at the moment.’

Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal said: ‘I think a point is correct, but I am happy because we played a strong team. It’s a point that is positive.’
