Trampoline duo take leap of faith with new park
FORMER England tennis player David Lloyd has teamed up with leisure entrepreneur Mitchell Tillman to launch a string of trampoline parks.
Lloyd and Tillman, son of former British Fashion Council chairman Harold Tillman, will open the first Mega Jump warehouse with more than 100 trampolines in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, next month.
As many as 20 Mega Jump locations are planned around London and the Home Counties in the next five years.
Lloyd is a former Davis Cup
By NEIL CRAVEN captain who sold his David Lloyd Leisure chain of gyms in 1995 for £182million. Tillman and his father operate a growing leisure business with four pub hotels and restaurants including The Summerhouse in West London.
Trampoline parks have proved to be a massive success story in the US, which had about 40 such attractions in 2011. The number there has since ballooned to an estimated 300 either in operation or under construction.
Tillman said: ‘As a parent with two children I can see there is definitely a gap in the market. We’re always looking for something to do at weekends with the kids.
‘These parks will be in accessible locations with activities for different age groups. Trampolining can offer wonderful health benefits.’
The 30,000 sq ft Borehamwood venue will include a soft play area, party rooms and a cafe.
