New role for cop allowed to quit despite facing probe

- By Martin Beckford

A TOP cop allowed to retire while still the subject of a misconduct probe now hopes to cash in on her expertise by becoming a leadership consultant.

Former Metropolitan Police deputy assistant commissioner Maxine De Brunner, 50, who earned £160,000 last year, faces a disciplinary hearing for ‘inappropriate use of resources’ over an aborted plan to send dozens of officers, dogs, horses and cars to entertain pupils at her son’s £12,000-a-year primary school in Surrey. The scandal was exposed by The Mail on Sunday. Now Ms De Brunner plans to make money as a private sector consultant.

Her updated profile on social network LinkedIn says she will be ‘augmenting my service to the promotion of exceptional leadership’.

It is believed she was allowed to leave the Met as she was not facing a ‘gross misconduct’ charge that could have seen her sacked or prosecuted. Ms De Brunner had been in the Met for 30 years so will be able to claim her full taxpayer-funded pension.

Yesterday it emerged that just before she left the force, Ms De Brunner had a £50,000 security and CCTV package approved for her family home.
