Pogba delivering a touch of swagger

-

SWAGGER and arrogance: it’s what people from outside so dislike about United. That is what has made the club great and what the club has missed these past years. If you’re pinpointing just why they are starting to play with swagger and certainty again then look no further than Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba (right). They look as though they were made to play with each other. Crucially, they seek the spotlight. If you’re going to be the first player to have your own Twitter emoji, like Pogba, then you’d better back it up with form. In recent weeks, he’s been doing that. He’s begun to look like the kind of player for whom you might pay £90million for. FOR self confidence and arrogance though, no one will ever match Ibrahimovic. People are making the comparison with Eric Cantona, and for obvious reasons, but for me he is more like Roy Keane. I think his team-mates look up to him in the same way I used to look up to Roy. He was the best captain I ever had. He ruled the dressing room with the sheer force of his personality. If something needed to be said, he could do that. But most of the time, he didn’t need to. Simply a look was enough. You could tell if you weren’t hitting acceptable standards just by his demeanour with you. And Ibrahimovic is like that now. His body language will say: ‘Come on! I want better!’ You find yourself thinking: ‘I can’t let this guy down because he doesn’t let his standards drop.’ He may not be the club captain but there’s no doubt who the team leader is. BBC Sport pundit Phil Neville, the former United and Everton midfielder, will be on Match of the Day 2 tonight at 10pm on BBC2
