And the choir that was born from heartbreak
FORMED in 2014, The Missing People Choir is composed of individuals and families of people who have disappeared and is led by the Missing People charity. Members of the choir include…
1 DENISE HORVATH-ALLAN
Denise’s son Charles went missing in 1989 when he was 20. He was last seen hitch-hiking in Kelowna, a city in British Columbia, Canada. Denise says her biggest fear is that she will die before she gets any answers.
2 PETER LAWRENCE
His daughter, the chef Claudia Lawrence, vanished in 2009 aged 35 following a day at work. Police haven’t any significant leads though it is believed she was murdered. Officers have now scaled back their investigations.
3 RACHEL EDWARDS
Rachel’s brother Richey Edwards, a guitarist in Welsh rock band the Manic Street Preachers, went missing in 1995 aged 27. His car was found abandoned near the Severn Bridge and in 2008 he was presumed dead by police. Rachel has vowed not to give up her search.
4 PETER BOXELL
Peter’s 15-year-old son Lee went missing in 1988. Peter wrote the BGT song, I Miss You.
5 JAMES HAWKINS
James is the Missing People choirmaster. After 15 years of working with singers, he has seen first-hand how music can heal. He leads the group and is responsible for helping Peter Boxell turn his lyrics into a song.
6 EMMA CULLINGFORD
Her mother, Sandra Hall, 57, went missing for a month in 2013 but was found dead near Bognor Regis, West Sussex. Police said that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death. Emma is one of the few members of the choir who has any answers.
7 PAM SARGENT
Pam is one of the volunteers at the Missing People Choir. She began her work there after her brother went missing for a year. He returned safe and sound.
