£8million! That is a stellar payday

FASHIONIST­AS happily pay £355 for her pink tortoise aviator sunglasses, while her checked woollen coat has a price tag of £1,695.

Now Stella McCartney, right, is reaping the rewards from her fashion empire with a stunning £7.9 million payday.

The daughter of Beatles legend Sir Paul and his late wife Linda has just bagged a £4.4 million dividend payout from her fashion label. The highest-paid director of the company, who is not named but is almost certainly Ms McCartney, received £3.2 million in salary, bonuses and pension contributi­ons. She also in line for another dividend of £337,500. It adds up to nearly £8 million for the designer.

A lifelong vegetarian, Ms McCartney is one of the few fashion designers never to use leather or fur.

Her Falabella Crystal Stones clutch bag is lined with recycled plastic bottles and sells for £1,650. A pair of Black Monster boots (£710) are made with a biodegrada­ble rubber sole that will decompose when placed in mature compost.

Celebrity fans include Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Melania Trump and Amal Clooney and close friends supermodel­s Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell.

Accounts for Stella McCartney Ltd, which has partnershi­ps with Adidas and Procter & Gamble, and kitted out the British Olympic and Paralympic teams for 2012 and 2016, show sales grew from £31.8 million to £41.7 million in 2016. Profits rose from £6.6 million to £9.5 million. Her company has 48 standalone stores around the world and distribute­s though 863 outlets in 77 countries as well as selling online.

Ms McCartney has four children with her husband, creative director Alasdhair Willis. She recently celebrated her 46th birthday in unique style, wearing a pink flamingo-shaped balloon around her waist and a blue hat in the shape of an upside-down rabbit’s head.
