ARE PILLOWS MADE UP MOSTLY OF HUMAN SKIN?

Environmental health expert Dr Lisa Ackerly says: ‘About ten per cent of a pillow is a combination of dust mites and dust mite droppings. Mites are tiny organisms that feed on dead skin cells. Inevitably, the droppings will contain skin cells too. We shed half an ounce of skin every week, some of which will end up on both the pillow case and the pillow itself.’
