The PC zealots putting young girls in danger
The idea that Girl Guides as young as five could be sharing camping facilities with boys who believe they are the wrong gender – as you reported last week – is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. The whole point of Brownies and Guides was to have safe places for girls to enjoy clean and healthy fun while learning about nature and other subjects. The proposal that leaders should not tell parents that their young daughters will be sleeping and showering with transgender boys is criminal.
The organisation is more than 100 years old, but I cannot see it lasting another ten at this rate. Parents of young girls will never allow their children to be part of an organisation that becomes more secretive as time passes.
As for the thanking of God for food – which is now frowned upon – what is wrong with that? If parents want their children to join the Scouts, Cubs, Brownies and Guides, they should understand that these organisations are Christian-based. Caroline West, Swansea
While there are those who have campaigned tirelessly to maintain people’s dignity and prevent sexual attacks by banning mixedsex hospital wards, the PC leaders of Girlguiding take the opposite view. Have they considered that boys might pretend to be transgender in order to shower and sleep with girls? Or that girls might not want to join the Guides because of this?
This is a further example of a PC agenda that could ruin yet another worthwhile, long-established and proud organisation. Alan Sharpe, Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire
Girlguiding wants to ban the use of the word God from grace before meals. What is a grace if not a thanks to God? If you are offended, move on, because most are not.
I have just returned from a local school where I volunteer. The assembly included a story of the coming of Christmas, the birth of Jesus story and a prayer. Everybody shouted ‘Amen!’ Oddly enough, no one objected or said they were offended.
Eric Jones, Evesham
If the Girl Guides story wasn’t enough, a mother has objected to Sleeping Beauty because the princess did not give consent to be kissed. The woman who objected would presumably have a fit to hear that I read to my children the stories of Greek and Roman mythology, which are full of bloodthirsty scenes. Let’s hope that this snowflake epidemic will be eradicated soon. Denis Bruce, Glasgow
