SCUNTHORPE twice fought back to earn a point at Blackburn. Danny Graham (right) twice put the home side in front, but Kevin Van Veen and Conor Townsend equalised, and Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray admitted: ‘We applied ourselves really well to the task, and yet really shot ourselves in the foot with the nature of the goals we lost. It’s really frustratin­g – we did enough to win it.’

DAVID BALL scored one and set up the other for Semi Ajayi as Rotherham kept in touch with the top six. Joe Edwards replied for Walsall, whose manager Jon Whitney said: ‘You cannot defend like that if you are going to win.’

BLACKPOOL 2 PLYMOUTH 2

VIV SOLOMON-OTABOR struck in injury-time to snatch a point for Blackpool, for whom Colin Daniel also scored. Ruben Lameiras and Graham Carey had put Plymouth in charge.

PORTSMOUTH 3 NORTHMPTON 1

OLIVER HAWKINS struck twice to fire Portsmouth to an eighth win from 10 games with ‘two great headers’ according to assistant boss Joe Gallen. Matty Kennedy was also on target after Chris Long had put Northampto­n ahead.

BRADFORD 3 OXFORD 2

BRADFORD CITY bounced back from two straight defeats despite a red card for Charlie Wyke, who had put them ahead early on. There were further goals from Shay McCartan and Tim Dieng, while Canice Carroll and Jon Obika scored for Oxford.

OLDHAM 1 BRISTOL R 1

OLDHAM boss Richie Wellens admitted ‘it’s very frustratin­g’ after his side were held at home. Billy Bodin put Rovers ahead before Craig Davies equalised at the second attempt after having his penalty saved.

BURY 0 FLEETWOOD 2

FLEETWOOD boss Uwe Rosler says his side have turned the corner after winning at Bury. ‘The world looks better now,’ he said. Ash Hunter and Devante Cole got the goals.

SOUTHEND 1 SHREWSBURY 2

SHREWSBURY moved to within two points of leaders Wigan thanks to Ben Godfrey and a Ben Coker own-goal. Ryan Leonard replied for Southend in a match marred by a heavy pitch.

GILLINGHAM 2 WIMBLEDON 2

HARRY FORRESTER came off the bench to earn Wimbledon a point. Lyle Taylor scored from the spot, while Gillingham scored through Max Ehmer and a George Francomb own-goal.

MK DONS 1 PETERBOROU­GH 0

MK DONS snatched victory despite playing with only nine men for almost an hour. Joe Walsh and Osman Sow were sent off before 35 minutes were up, but Chuks Aneke (above) hit the winner. Dons boss Robbie Neilson slammed referee Charles Breakspear and said: ‘In his previous league games he has sent off five players and now he’s up to seven players sent off, so I don’t think it reflects well on him when he can’t control the game without sending people off.’
