ROTHERHAM boss Paul Warne praised match-winner Richard Wood (right) after the captain’s goal proved enough to seal an away win over leaders Shrewsbury. Warne said: ‘He said after the game it’s about time he scored. The fact Woody scores just gives him a boost. He’s been brilliant for me all season, so I’m pleased for him.’ Fourth-placed Rotherham have now won six games in a row and are unbeaten in 13.

SUBSTITUTE Joe Pigott struck in the third minute of stoppage time as Wimbledon moved out of the relegation zone. After four straight defeats, they looked like having to settle for a draw until Pigott headed in Harry Forrester’s cross.

PLAY-OFF chasing Scunthorpe twice came from behind to pick up a point. Chris Long and John-Joe O’Toole (right) twice gave Northampto­n the lead, but Funso Ojo and Murray Wallace levelled each time. Scunthorpe manager Graham Alexander admitted: ‘I watched that game through my fingers. We didn’t do enough on the ball — it was an average performanc­e.’

IN-FORM Plymouth extended their run to only one defeat in 14 games as they inflicted a third straight defeat on managerles­s Oxford. Centre-half Sonny Bradley got the goal when he met Graham Carey’s corner with a powerful header.

SOUTHEND 3 PORTSMOUTH 1

TWO goals from right-back Jason Demetriou (right) saw Southend make it four wins out of five under manager Chris Powell. The Cyprus internatio­nal took his season’s tally to eight after they had gone ahead through Matt Clarke’s own-goal. Gareth Evans pulled one back for Portsmouth, who had Nathan Thompson sent off for a late foul on Ben Coker.

AHMED Kashi and Josh Magennis scored to give Charlton a vital win. Kieran Agard pulled one back. Charlton boss Karl Robinson said: ‘I thought we were excellent, I really did. I thought we looked on a different level at times.’

DONCASTER 3 FLEETWOOD 0

FLEETWOOD last night sacked Uwe Rosler after seven straight defeats. Rosler was fired after Fleetwood’s loss at Doncaster left Town outside the relegation places on goal difference. The German (above), apologised to fans after this defeat. He had been at Highbury since 2016. On-loan Burnley defender Tom Anderson scored twice and Alex Kiwomya hit the third.

WALSALL boss Jon Whitney admits he loves nothing more than a clean sheet and believes that’s exactly what goalkeeper Liam Roberts deserved. He said: ‘We’ve got a young goalkeeper, so it’s nice for him as well.’
