KAYDEN JACKSON’S 13th goal of the season lifted Accrington into second place, but manager John Coleman admitted: ‘It wasn’t always pretty and there are different ways of winning. This was more of a fighting show.’

CARLISLE manager Keith Curle hailed the quality of Hallam Hope’s curling winner. He said: ‘It was a textbook finish. If you show him too much he will bend that ball in the far corner.’

CHESTERFIE­LD ended a run of four defeats to boost their hopes of staying in the Football League. Chris O’Grady and Andy Kellett got their goals with Rollin Menayese replying for Swindon, who had Ollie Banks sent off.

KEVIN ELLISON scored twice the day after his 39th birthday as Morecambe made a mockery of the form book. Adam McGurk also got two, with Nick Freeman and Luke O’Nien replying.

BARNET gave their survival hopes a huge boost as they won at Colchester. Alex Nicholls’ goal in the second half was enough to claim three points and dent Colchester’s hopes of making the play-offs in the process.

PORT VALE manager Neil Aspin admitted his side didn’t do enough to open up Newport. He said: ‘I’m not here to make excuses. We didn’t do enough in terms of making chances.’

FOREST GREEN made it five straight home wins as they shocked form team Crawley, who had won eight of their previous 10 games. Mark Cooper’s improving side won it with early goals from Reuben Reid and Christian Doidge.

JORGE GRANT and Shola Ameobi got the goals as Notts County kept up the heat on their promotion rivals, and manager Kevin Nolan said: ‘It was well-deserved in the end.’

GRIMSBY 0 EXETER 1

IT was a tale of two penalties as 10-man Exeter claimed victory. Jayden Stockley made no mistake for Exeter but 90 seconds later JJ Hooper sent his spot-kick wide at the other end. Kane Wilson was sent off for two yellow cards.

MANSFIELD 1 COVENTRY 1

JONSON CLARKE-HARRIS’ penalty rescued a point for 10-men Coventry, who had Jordan Willis red-carded early on. They fell behind to a Kane Hemmings’ goal.

LINCOLN 1 CREWE 4

LINCOLN slipped to a rare home defeat as Crewe eased relegation fears. Michael Bostwick had given Lincoln the lead, but Crewe roared back with goals from Harry Pickering, Jordan Bowery (two) and Paul Green from the spot.
