WIGAN 1 ROCHDALE 0

WIGAN assistant manager Leam Richardson admitted the result was far more important than the performance after they beat Rochdale. He said: ‘These are big wins, big points, at this time of year. We expected a very tough game from Rochdale, and they certainly gave us one, but credit to our lads for grinding it out.’ A 12th-minute goal from Michael Jacobs (above), captain for the day, was the difference between the two sides.

DANNY GRAHAM’S first-half double kept Blackburn top of the table. Jack Fitzwater pulled one back, but some fine saves from Rovers keeper David Raya saw them hold on.
