Poldark star Aidan woos secret lover on romantic trip to Paris
HIS smouldering good looks and rippling torso have made him the most lusted- after bachelor in Britain.
But now Aidan Turner, who has won legions of female fans playing dashing Captain Ross Poldark in the hit BBC drama, is set to break a million hearts after finally finding his real-life Demelza.
These pictures show the 34-year-old Irish actor on a romantic trip to Paris with his new girlfriend last week – and The Mail on Sunday can reveal that she is US TV star Caitlin Fitz-Gerald.
Looking for all the world like a couple deeply in love, they strolled hand in hand along the banks of the River Seine, with Aidan at one point leaning in to place a tender kiss on Caitlin’s cheek. The pair met while playing lovers in the forthcoming fantasy film The Man Who Killed Hitler And Then The Bigfoot, which opens in the US next month.
It is thought they became close while filming scenes in Massachusetts. Sources say they rarely mingled with other cast members while staying at the historic Deerfield Inn, near Boston. In the film, Turner plays an American soldier in the Second World War who leaves Caitlin’s character behind to embark on a dangerous mission to assassinate Adolf Hitler – and he is later called upon to kill a mythical sasquatch in the Canadian Rockies.
Turner split with artist Nettie Wakefield, 30, last June. Before that he was in five- year relationship with fellow actress Sarah Greene, 32. They separated in 2015.
In an interview last weekend, Turner, currently appearing in the fourth series of Poldark, coyly hinted at finding new love, saying: ‘I do have a girl- friend, yeah.’ Fitz Gerald, also 34, is best known for her role in the hit American TV drama Masters Of Sex. She has an intriguing family background: her grandfather, Desmond Fitz Gerald, was a high- ranking CIA officer during the 1960s. She has previously dated Welsh actor Michael Sheen.
Last month Glamour magazine published an essay by Caitlin entitled ‘No one can tell you what good sex looks like’, in which she admitted having ‘had some really bad sex in my life’.
She said she had initially ‘crafted my bedroom behaviour around what I had seen women do on television – lots of excessive moaning and hair tossing but very little personal satisfaction’.
