The great holiday binge
MIDDLE-AGED Britons eat almost a third more, drink nearly twice as much and exercise far less on holiday, according to research.
In an average week 40-somethings eat 12,327 calories, but this soars to 15,876 abroad. Boozing rises from six units a week – around three pints of beer – to 11 units.
And while the typical tourist does two hours 25 minutes of keep-fit at home, this falls to 90 minutes on a break, says Omron Healthcare which conducted the study.
