HOW HE TOOK CONTROL
JOSE MOURINHO left Paul Pogba out of some big games last season including a Champions League tie against Sevilla. But maybe his performances as an old-fashioned box-to-box midfielder at the World Cup will get the best out of him at Manchester United. Certainly Pogba was an unstoppable force on the left-hand side of a 4-3-3 against Leicester on Friday, breaking up play one minute and producing a killer pass the next. The way he swatted aside Leicester’s Vincent Iborra in a couple of 50-50s was reminiscent of a light-heavyweight versus a bantamweight.
When United were awarded a penalty, Alexis Sanchez wanted it, but Pogba took responsibility and was in complete control.
