A third of students hit by thieves
ONE in three students will fall victim to thieves while at university, with cash, phones, laptops and clothes the most common items stolen, according to a new study.
Seven per cent also said they had been mugged, normally having their mobile and money stolen.
Kevin Pratt, of MoneySuperMarket, which conducted the poll of 1,000 youngsters, said: ‘Thieves are opportunistic and will often target student areas.
‘If you live in shared accommodation, make sure you have a lock on your room door – you can’t be too careful.’
