Ironing... the secret joy of stressed Britons
FORGET mindfulness and ditch the yoga – ironing is the way nearly three out of four people like to relax.
A study of 1,000 Britons found that nearly three-quarters of us found the domestic chore calming, with folding towels coming in second spot and pairing socks third.
The study, by hotel chain Hilton Garden Inn, found that 37 per cent of Britons spend two hours or more ironing every week, with 70 per cent saying they ‘wish’ they had more of it to do.
Tal Shefer, of Hilton Garden Inn, said: ‘Our research reveals that ironing is one of the nation’s top simple pleasures.’
