Such a tragic waste
Thank you for highlighting on your Health pages the issue of DPD deficiency, which is causing patients to be killed by their chemotherapy. My 77-year-old husband Derek was diagnosed with cancer in July this year. He began chemo on September 13 and the following day he started going downhill. He was admitted to hospital on September 21, but by then the damage was done. He died less than two months later. All of this could have been avoided with a simple £60 blood test – the cost is nothing compared to the nightmare we have endured. Gill, Nigel and Sandra Moore, Dereham, Norfolk
