Bath enjoying grounds for optimism... at last!

BATH will take a giant step towards ending their 30-year stadium saga this week — by unveiling proposals for new Romanstyle ground in the heart of the city. Images such as this (right) will go to public gallery on Wednesday and club chiefs hope to complete the project by September 2021. Previous plans have been shot down by local residents and legal wrangles. The new permanent stadium will be shifted 50metres away from the waterfront, which will be regenerated with cafes and bars. The pitch is likely to be a Desso surface and built above a 600-800 capacity underground car park. Such a project is likely to cost between £60-£80million and home matches would need to be played on an alternative site for around one and a half seasons.
