Basement feud hits a new low

-

IT HAS been one of music’s most bitter disputes – and now claims about just how personal the battle over a basement became between Jimmy Page and Robbie Williams can be revealed.

A public comment sent to council officials as part of the planning process alleges that Williams – in an apparent attempt to torment his neighbour – dressed as Page’s Led Zeppelin band-mate Robert Plant.

He is also accused of playing the music of Led Zeppelin’s rivals Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd and Deep Purple at maximum volume when Page ventured into his garden.

The pair have been locked in a row since Williams submitted plans for a basement pool and spa at his £17 million West London home.

Page, 74, objected as he feared excavation work would damage his 1875 Grade I-listed mansion.

Both men declined to comment.
