Leeds target bags two as Hull shock Bielsa leaders

-

After a poor start to the campaign, Hull are finding form and this result marked their fourth straight Championship victory.

Nigel Adkins’ men have lost just once in their last 11. He said: ‘It was a full house at Elland Road – this is a tough place to come and they’re top of the league.

‘But the lads were great. Our centre halves, Reece Burke and Jordy de Wijs, were immense.’

Central to Hull’s attacking threat was Kamil Grosicki on the left flank, whose cross was met by 22year-old Bowen, who swept a low, left-foot shot into the net in front from 12 yards for the opener.

Pablo Hernandez, who had earlier fired from Mateusz Klich’s neat pass, drew a smart stop from David Marshall with a 25-yard piledriver as the interval approached. Both sides made changes at the break as Leeds replaced Jack Harrison with academy starlet Jack Clarke while Hull swapped Evandro Goebel for Jon Toral.

Still Hull continued to keep Leeds at bay with aggressive, obstinate defending as 13-goal striker Kemar Roofe barely had a sniff.

The visitors struck a killer blow in the 58th minute when another low cross from the impressive Grosicki was fired goalwards by Toral. Bailey Peacock- Farrell saved before Bowen again tucked away the rebound from close range.

The predictable onslaught from Leeds followed – with Luke Ayling and substitute Tyler Roberts having efforts cleared off the line.
