Dyche: Euro trips have taken toll

- By Joe Bernstein

SEAN DYCHE admits he underestimated the impact the Europa League would have on Burnley’s season.

The Clarets are in the relegation zone as they face West Ham today. After months dismissing the idea that European football would be a drain on his side, manager Dyche now says long trips to Turkey and Greece have taken a toll.

‘We were told it would be trouble playing in the Europa League and it has transpired that way because it’s been a massive challenge. Probably more than we thought,’ Dyche said.

Burnley have already conceded more goals than they did throughout last season. Tom Heaton is pushing for a recall in goal, in place of Joe Hart after the 5-1 defeat to Everton.
