Ole begs Martial and De Gea to sign up for long haul

-

MANCHESTER UNITED pair David de Gea and Anthony Martial have been urged to sign new contracts by interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Both players have failed to reach an agreement on extending their stay at Old Trafford beyond 2020.

Solskjaer said: ‘When you’re at United there isn’t a lot of greener grass on the other side. You are at the best place. If you are a regular at Manchester United I think you should grasp the opportunity to become part of the history.’

De Gea, 28, would interest Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus if he decided to leave. United hope the recent departure of Jose Mourinho will help persuade him to stay.

Martial also had his problems with former manager Mourinho and his agent said last summer the French player wanted to leave.

Solskjaer sees the 23-year-old as a potential winger saying: ‘Anthony can play as a No 9 of course. But he is fantastic at one-one-one so he can also play on the left or right wing.’
