Don’t ban ‘posh leaders’ from No 10
Last week you reported that allies of comprehensive school-educated Home Secretary Sajid Javid were on a mission to stop a ‘private school Oxbridge’ candidate becoming the next Conservative leader.
But it is nonsense to say that because a person went to a certain school they should be barred from leading their party and potentially becoming Prime Minister. As far as I am concerned, the most important thing is that they are good at decision-making.
Look at the various messes that politicians such as John Major, Tony Blair, David Cameron, Nick Clegg and Vince Cable have left behind them.
Major gave away our rights and freedoms to the EU without the permission of the people. Blair continued down the same path, and Cameron was a weak leader. Clegg promised so much to gain power and then performed U-turns once in office.
And as Business Secretary in the Coalition, Vince Cable sold off the Royal Mail on the cheap, ignoring those who work their socks off to deliver our mail. Josephine Juden, Bournemouth
