‘Sweetest lad’ stabbed to death after noise row

- By Russell Jenkins

A YOUNG man collapsed at his home with fatal knife wounds after an argument over noise ended in violence, neighbours said yesterday.

The victim, named as 20-year-old Tyrelle Burke, was found inside the front door of his family’s terraced home in Wythenshawe, south Manchester, just before 9am on Friday. Paramedics fought for almost half an hour to save his life but he died in hospital.

A 17-year-old youth, who lived less than a mile away on the sprawling housing estate, was arrested on suspicion of murder.

Friends and neighbours described Mr Burke as the ‘sweetest lad’, a ‘warm-hearted boy’ with a ‘cheeky smile and beautiful face’. Others spoke of a polite young man who called them ‘sir’.

Residents said they heard men at Mr Burke’s house arguing about noise. One neighbour said: ‘A young kid was making some noise. Tyrelle asked him to keep it down and an argument broke out. He asked him to leave and that is when the incident happened. It took place on the doorstep.’

Mr Burke managed to stagger back inside, where he was found by police and paramedics.

Yesterday friends and neighbours began laying floral tributes outside the family home where four forensic officers in white overalls were still searching for evidence. One card below a bouquet of flowers read: ‘To Tyrelle, rest in paradise, will never forget your cheeky smile and beautiful face.’

Another read: ‘There are no words, Tyrelle, you were far too young. Fly high and rest easy. All our thoughts are with you and your family.’

Neighbour Mark Vanhendrijk, 59, said: ‘We have known him since he was six years old. He was always very polite. For some reason he always called me “sir”. He comes from a lovely family.’
