We’re storing up trouble

-

With regard to your Financial Mail piece about cabin baggage, I am tired of people trying to bring everything bar the kitchen sink on board and attempting to stow it in the overhead lockers. Do people realise what would happen if these spaces broke open in severe turbulence? Passengers could be killed.

Even with the charges you outlined, it’s still good value. You can fly to most of Europe for less than the cost of a train journey in this country.

Ann Green, Merseyside

Can anyone explain why a 12-stone passenger with a bag a kilo over the limit is charged extra when the person behind him weighs 20 stone but his case is the right weight? G. Hooley, Ipswich

Overhead lockers were never designed for this purpose. Let’s return to the days when all cases were checked in at the airport and stored in the hold. T. Stuart, Halifax
