Red mist but yellow’s OK

- Chris Foy

ANTHONY TAYLOR was right not to send off Kyle Walker and the VAR was correct not to overturn the decision.

The referee cautioned both players for adopting an aggressive attitude. I would have done the same had I been handling the game. As it is potentially a red-card offence, the incident is automatically checked by the VAR. The initial decision should only be overturned if a clear and obvious error has been made. It had not.

Taylor had not made a clear and obvious error because it was not a clear act of violent conduct by Walker. For that, the law refers to use of excessive force or brutality. There was neither.
