Idris says ‘I do’ with a three- day Marrakech spectacular

- Edited by Katie Hind

IDRIS ELBA broke the hearts of millions of female fans yesterday when he tied the knot with model Sabrina Dhowre at a lavish ceremony in Marrakech.

Wearing a custom- made Ozwald Boateng suit, the Luther star, 46, married 30-year-old Sabrina at the exclusive Ksar Char-Bagh hotel in front of 150 guests, including Idris’s 17-year-old daughter Isan, who was a bridesmaid.

Diana Ross was also rumoured to be performing a string of her bestknown Motown hits at the newlyweds’ festival- themed party last night, having flown in from Los Angeles.

However, there were two notable absentees from the three-day celebrations in Morocco – the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who are about to become parents for the first time.

They made up for their absence by sending a £7,000 piece of art by the trendy Connor Brothers as a wedding present.

The picture features a 1950s-style romantic book cover of a glamorous woman next to the words: ‘Why fit in when you were born to stand out?’

The Connor Brothers first entered t he art scene as Franklyn and Brendan Connor, supposedly elusive Missouri- born twins brought up within an extremist Christian cult.

However, that was later revealed to have been a hoax and instead a pseudonym for British artists James Golding and Mike Snelle.

It seems Harry and Meghan certainly missed out on quite a party. On Friday night, guests were invited to attend a ‘colours of souk’ dinner at the five-star Amanjena resort, just outside Marrakech.

And last night’s bash was set to be even bigger.

Elba and Sabrina, who met on the set of film The Mountain Between Us in 2017, were due to throw a huge ‘allwhite’ festival-themed event at the Mandarin Oriental, where rooms cost up to £10,000 a night.

Sabrina was certainly dressed for the occasion. The former Miss Vancouver wore two exquisite dresses by Vera Wang – a Bardot-style gown for

the wedding ceremony and a pearl-embroidered number for the reception. Male guests wore black tie.

Her make- up was done by British make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury, while the photos were taken by American celebrity snapper Sean Thomas.

However, to see the full wedding album fans will have to buy the July edition of Vogue after editor Edward Enninful cut a deal with the couple to buy the rights to their wedding.

Earlier this year Sabrina held an extravagant hen party in Utah, where she was pictured in a short silk dressing gown alongside nine friends.
